About Me (& Us)

about-me

Christine Wheeler

Taught a love of travel at a young age, we married in 2010. Since then, we have been traveling every chance we get while still holding down our jobs. We are at 45 and counting on six continents. In 2015, I started a fitness journey after struggling to get around China. I built up to my first marathon in October 2016 in Chicago, and now add destination races to our travels, finishing races in four states so far.

This is at Joshua Tree National Park last year, bu This is at Joshua Tree National Park last year, but it shows how I’m feeling right now about launching my new Pinterest management agency and website, @pinnovationmedia! I’ve also created a FREE email series going through five steps to audit your own Pinterest account (sign up in stories or on the new site @pinnovationmedia), and I’ve got lots of blog posts coming soon to that site with Pinterest tips! I’m also going live with @pangeadreams in just a little bit to talk all things Pinterest, so hopefully I’ll see you there!
. . . . .
Are you managing to be productive during quarantine or enjoying some down time? I’ve been doing a mix of both depending on the day, but I’m glad this is finally up and officially launched.

Marrying him was the craziest thing I’ve ever done because he talks me in to all the other crazy things I’ve done 😂 Opposites attract is definitely the case in so many ways with us. Which one of us are you more like?
. . . . .
Him: risk taker, extrovert, no sweets, no worries, prefers listening
Me: plays it safer, introvert, “dessert-ie”, overthinker, prefers reading 📖

Sharing some highlights from our wedding and our last 10 years throughout the day in stories! 📸: One of my favorite tripod photos of us from our teepee at @westgateranch @westgateresorts - highly recommend glamping there sometime! Wearing @aggieswimwear and @otbtshoes.
How are you? No, really - how are you? Some places How are you? No, really - how are you? Some places in the world, it is much easier to practice social distancing (like outside the west entrance to Death Valley near Panamint Valley Road on our California road trip a year ago), and others it is much harder.

We are good here in Orlando. I work from home and am an introvert who likes staying home, so it is easy to forget what is going on outside until I turn on the news. My husband still goes to work every day like normal (he’s a cop, so no work from home option there) which makes it feel again like nothing changed in our day to day life. We are blessed that he has a job that is always needed no matter what is going on in the world, but I know a lot of people are hurting right now. If you are one of them, know I am praying for you and feel free to reach out anytime.
. . . . .
Since travel is shut down in most parts of the world right now, I’m thinking about using my captions to give more blog/Pinterest tips along with some travel tips for when things open back up (not that I post that often). Thoughts? Anything else you’d like to see from me?
. . . . .
Also answering questions in stories right now and sharing blog posts daily from other bloggers since swiping up is free and can be done from home - DM me if you want to make sure you are on the list, and feel free to send the post you want linked (otherwise I just pick one I like). Hoping everyone is healthy and safe and doing okay out there 💙
New way to block people out in images 😂 Walking New way to block people out in images 😂 Walking the Brooklyn Bridge in NYC gives you a chance to walk off some of the New York pizza while also getting amazing views of the city. Thanks to the colder weather (but actually pretty mild that day!), there weren’t many people on the bridge anyways even in the late morning. There are two spots like this on the bridge - one closer to the city (this one) and one further from the city for a wider view of the skyline. How do you try to avoid having crowds in the background or do you care?

Swipe to see the before and after of this photo created with one of @lisahomsy’s new presets from the Preset Bundle. It’s only $70, and you get nearly $3000 of presets, Instagram tips, and photography tips. Considering many preset packs individually cost $70, I couldn’t pass this deal up. Also, for anyone in Atlanta, I’ll be there on Monday to teach a blogging and Pinterest bootcamp with @the.womenproject! Check out their page for more info!
With views like these, we spent more time at the h With views like these, we spent more time at the hotel than we normally would on a trip. We had to check out the view at different times of the day, and it did not disappoint - SWIPE to see sunrise, sunset, and night views plus the others views of the city from suite 2011 at @westgatenyc (hosted). Each balcony has a different view, but this was our favorite of the balconies we saw (one on the 18th floor is a popular favorite with several employees, but it was booked the whole time).

While I’m more of a nature person, I don’t mind a city view for a few days - especially when the view is like this. What about you - what type of hotel view is your favorite?

Our first trip of 2020 was a quick trip to NYC, an Our first trip of 2020 was a quick trip to NYC, and it was our first time where NYC was the destination and not a layover. We’ve been 3 times in the past for 2 days, 10 hours and 9 hours which was enough to see some of the highlights but not really explore the city.
. . . . .
This time we stayed at @westgatenyc (hosted) where we had this amazing view of the city and warm enough weather to enjoy it. Plus, since it is right by Grand Central, we had easy access to the rest of the city to explore. (If you go, each balcony has a different view, and this was our favorite. It is part of a one bedroom suite and is room 2011.)
. . . . .
Have you been somewhere on a layover that you want to go back and explore more?

PARIS AT NEW YEAR’S - Swipe for photos & video ( PARIS AT NEW YEAR’S - Swipe for photos & video (full blog post in bio/stories) ✨ Paris is amazing any time of year, but two years ago we celebrated New Year’s in Paris and couldn’t find much information online (save for later if you ever plan to go!). Here is what you need to know:
✨ Ring in the new year at Arc de Triomphe for fireworks; get there around 10 pm for a good spot
✨ Watch the Eiffel Tower light show afterwards at 1 am, but there are rarely fireworks there (Bastille Day is when they have fireworks at the Eiffel Tower)
✨ Try to stay in walking distance of where you plan to celebrate so you don’t have to deal with transportation
✨ There are lots of dinner parties in restaurants and on river cruises, but book in advance
✨ For Eiffel Tower views, check out Trocadero at sunrise, Rue de l’Universite, Pont de l’Alma for sunset, and Place de Mexico
✨ Many popular tourist spots close one day of the week, and some of them close for New Year’s - see the blog post for which days things are open or closed
Where will you be ringing in 2020?
Today feels a little bit like Christmas to me 🎄 Today feels a little bit like Christmas to me 🎄🎁 and Disney’s Grand Floridian knows how to do Christmas decorations right. The tree is gorgeous and huge, but see that house behind me? That’s an actual gingerbread house! Visiting Grand Floridian is just one of my 40+ things to do in Orlando this Christmas (LINK IN BIO/STORIES). . . . . .
Why does today feel like Christmas? It’s not just because it is Florida cold outside or because I’m working on my holiday gift guide (which should go live today!)
. . . . .
It’s because I hit my Mediavine goal yesterday! Thank you, thank you, thank you for all of your support over the last month! I’m sharing my numbers in stories today if you’re interested in seeing my progress. Set crazy goals and sometimes crazy things happen!
. . . . .
What is a goal you are trying to hit by the end of the year or in 2020?
NEW BLOG POST (and first blog post) by this guy wh NEW BLOG POST (and first blog post) by this guy who celebrates his birthday today! (There’s also a one day in Joshua Tree post with this photo spot on the blog.) My husband is the best partner I could ask for to go through life with me and has been so supportive of me making the leap to blogging full-time. Today his first blog post full of travel safety tips went live! As a cop in Florida for over a decade now, his training and experiences make him more aware of potential dangers as we travel. He thinks ahead and has a plan for every situation to do his best to keep us safe when we travel. Check out the link in my bio or my stories to get his tips for staying safe while traveling. What are some of your best travel safety tips or tools?
